After Zoozoos, Vodafone goes for another campaign with Hollywood sign

The 30 odd ZooZoo ads from Vodafone are still fresh in the minds of people. After IPL no one remembered Yusuf Pathan’s sixers or Ojha’s wickets but everyone has remembered Zoozoos.

Zoozoos by itself is the greatest innovation in Indian ad industry and readily increased the brand recall for Vodafone. Now, it is back with one more first in India.

Vodafone-Hill

It has launched a Hollywood style of Vodafone text on a hill in Rajasthan. The sign measures 130 feet in length and 30 feet in depth (20 feet less than the famous Hollywood sign).

The Vodafone hill sign is visible from over a kilometer and the size of each letter is about 25 feet. The hill is a privately owned land and hence cost the company much less than it would otherwise have done on government owned land. The sign was installed about a week ago and will remain as a landmark in the same location for at least five years.
The structure took about 60 days to create and was taken in parts to the location, where it was assembled over 10 days. It had to be designed and built in such a way that it could withstand wind and other natural forces. (Afaqs)

I can smell many companies following suit. But, Vodafone gets the credit for trying it first. Unlike ZooZoo magic this can be re-created anywhere else by any brand.

This ad innovation is again done by Ogivly group. Why can’t Vodafone buy Ogivly? Because many of the best ads come from Ogivly and the best of the best is stored for Vodafone.

PS : This might be first in India for a major brand but not first in India. As I have seen something like this in Vizag. There were few letters written (possibly an acronym) on a hill. This happens to be close to my house. Irony is, I can’t remember what those letters were.
