"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" producer Hsu Li-kong, a key figure in nurturing Taiwanese film talent, has been awarded one of the Chinese film industry's top honors. Organizers of Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards — Chinese-language cinema's equivalent of the Oscars — said in a statement Wednesday that Hsu will receive their lifetime achievement award. The annual ceremony will take place on Nov. 20 just outside of the capital, Taipei. As a senior executive at Taiwan's Central Motion Picture Corp., Hsu worked with top directors like Oscar winner Ang Lee and art-house filmmaker Tsai Ming-liang early in their careers. Hsu's producer credits include Lee's "Pushing Hands," ''The Wedding Banquet," ''Eat Drink Man Woman" and Tsai's "Rebels of the Neon God" and "Vive L'Amour."
