Jaago Re. This is a mass media campaign launched by Tata Tea. You might have seen this on TV. This unique campaign provides a common platform to register and get your voter ID cards. This is targeted for 35 cities across India. Its vision is to get 1 billion people voting. I am not sure if there are 1 billion eligible voters. But it is a grand vision nevertheless. Even if they succeed in getting 25% of otherwise uninitiated voters, they can claim a huge success. That success would be of Indian Democracy too. Go take a look at the website which explains you their vision and also provides other important information about Who is Who of Indian government. We need to highly appreciate Tata Tea’s Corporate Social Responsibility to bring a common platform for registering as voters. Voting is the biggest power of democracy. You can decide the future of this country by exercising your vote. Dont’ let the bueuracracy involved in getting the voter ID card deter you from voting. Go check the website and register and get your voter ID card. Come April 2009 you will be ready to vote. Vote is your basic right in Republic India. Use it. Please. I have my voter ID card and have voted in the recently conducted Karnataka elections. Get up and Vote.
