Infosys, the first Indian company to be listed on NASDAQ has urged its employees to save $10 for the company. This would translate to $1 million in savings for 100,000 strong company. The saving could be in any form. Imagination is the only limit.

Unlike, other companies which imposed extra working hours, Infosys has left it to the employees to choose. Even if 40% of the employees save $10 each that would still be $400,000 savings. Not bad at all.

Infosys CEO, Kris Gopalakrishnan has also said that there will be no new hiring’s this fiscal. It would still hit the 25000 target for the fiscal. That would mean it would hold on to its commitment of 6000+ new employees, who are yet to join.

Infosys has promised that there will not be any job cuts because of the meltdown. It has also said that the IT industry will grow at 15% this year. This is half of what the industry has grown last year.

Infy is a leader in many ways. Though we have heard hiring reports (or rumours) about several companies firing people, nothing is heard from Infosys. Satyam has devised its own ways to cut costs and never hesitates to follow Infosys, when it comes to cost cutting.

Will Satyam follow Infy this time and ask its employees to cut costs by $10 -$15?
