Sun Direct which has limited its DTH services to the South has launched its pan India services today. Dish TV, Tata Sky and Reliance are sharing the market in the nascent DTH market.

Sun has several attractive offers to lure customers. Looking at the offers they are directly targeting Reliance Big TV. It has 139 + Channels as a introductory offer for 499 rupees with free dish and set top box. 1000 rupees are charged towards installation. 5 months subscription.

Along with this there are other features like :

  • 200 + channels on the offer
  • 23 FM radio channels
  • Video on demand
  • 36 add-on packages ranging from Rs.6 to Rs. 195

Reliance still has better value for money. They have south pack for 1999 and 1 year free subscription. Sun does not match it with Reliance but much better than Airtel. Airtel DTH is a bit lazy in rolling out its network. Its pricing is not encouraging either. Reliance has killed the competition even before it started.

It would be interesting to see if Sun can make any dents to Big TV’s success story.

Which one would you prefer Sun or Reliance?
