Submarine cables or the links which connect Europe and Middle East were disrupted since yesterday. If you are experiencing slow speeds on your broadband connections that is probably it. The reason for the disruption is not yet known but some believe that seismic activity in Mediterranean. It had affected India and its BPO operations very badly. The biggies had back-up plans while smaller BPO’s who heavily rely on VoIP have been hit pretty badly. Tata Communications and Bharti Airtel has reported disruption to their services. There was a cable (oops fiber) cut for Airtel near Italys. Check out the interesting graphic of how Undersea cables are repaired at Amit Agarwal’s Digital Inspiration. That is not the reason why, I am not posting more often. I am on my vacation and traveling in the last 2 days. Don’t worry, I have my Reliance NetConnect to browse and post. “In Reliance we trust” That’s a little exaggeration but, it has provided me with a lot of flexibility.
