Why is middle east always in trouble?

I have been thinking and reading about this for a while now. I did not know why they always fight. I also did not know how a country which did not exist 60 years ago is a dominant force in the middle of middle east. With the Israeal and Gaza thing going on, this question gets more relevance now.

One obvious answer is the oil. Thomas Friedman gave a name to it : Petropolitics. Countries with oil do not have democracies. The countries which run out of oil first - talk about democracy and independence for woman. That is a valid theory but still not very convincing. Until I found this :

middle-east

Now we know why middle east is deep shit. India is precariously close but just managed it.
