Tata, Nano, launched, 3rd, March

The car the world is waiting for will be available to the public on 3rd March. The cheapest car, the 1 lakh or $2500 car, the car of the people - Tata Nano, will start its booking from the last week of February.

3rd March is the Birthday of Jamshedji Tata and also marks the launch of Tata Nano from now on. Unlike the world’s cheapest laptop, this one is real. This is what Ratan Tata calls : “A promise is a promise”.

Here are the finer details :

• A down payment of 70,000 rupees is required for pre-booking
• Car can be booked from the Tata outlets or 100-designated State Bank of India branches. This will be spread to 1000 SBI branches later.
• Few cars will be given to celebrities like Sonia Gandhi, Sania Mirza, Sachin Tendulkar etc…
• On road price of the car would be less than 1.4 lakh.
• Tata Motors is expecting 1 lakh bookings in the first week itself. That would be a windfall of 700 crores.
