Have you seen Terminator 2? Arnold in that move looks at a person and gathers information about that person on his weird goggles. That was a little dorky and geeky. Limitation there is he can only see the information on the designated surface.

Have you seen Minority Report? Tom Cruise in that move tries to  collate information on a surface about a potential homicide and sends up pre-cogs to avoid the crime. Problem with this movie is - little dorky and geeky and could only be possible in movies.

Though these movies are few years apart someone has actually seen both the movies and is trying to implement them - together. This is time its geeky yet human. This innovation from Pranav Mistry is best gadget anyone would have asked for and worst nightmare for existing gadget makers. In one shot it will replace all the gadgets - sort of.

Interact with information with your hands

Called as Sixth Sense this innovation combines camera, phone, color caps, projector and mirror. With this combination one can interact with information with hands by just feeling the object. One can get the information about a product or a person by just feeling. From the demo it is actually faster than the google search and much cooler than what Terminator had.

Sixth Sense

You can actually project the phone dials on your hand and make a call. You can draw a circle on your hand to just indicate that you want a watch and it appears. You can project the information of the person you were talking to by a handshake. You can checkout reviews of a book by just picking up the book. The possibilities are endless.

How is this different from Microsoft’s Surface?
Well, Microsoft’s technology as usual works only with their surface. But this works with any surface. And all of this will cost just $350. The components are readily available off the shelf. The economies of scale will definitely work and can bring the cost down. At this cost it is cheaper than a iPhone.

You don’t believe none of this? Watch the video and see it for yourself:

Isn’t that the coolest thing you have ever seen? (via gizmodo, TED)

PS : This is just for us humans. Looks like cows already have sixth sense.
