Just asking a simple question of “What does 500 rupees mean to you” triggers a wide range of responses across sections. It also reminds us of the wide gap between rich and poor in India. This short video goes to different people about their views on a 500 rupee note. The views or rather desires of the people vary from watching movies, recharging mobile, buying a sonata watch, buying alcohol to a pessimistic view of - what do we get for 500 ? - nothing. But the most humble of them all is paying the tuition fee and saving. And the most funny of them all is buying a branded under wear. Dude, there is a reason why it is an underwear. No body cares if you are wearing it, leave alone the brand. Unless of course you are in MTV Roadies. Anyways, watch the video below :
To me, it is just saving for the rainy day. I cannot think of anything that I want to spend right now. I am a changed man these days and actually think about every rupee I spend. I carry enough change to lug me around in an auto-rickshaw. What does 500 rupees mean to you? *Image source
