Snaptu and Cricinfo has tied up to cash in India’s two passions - mobile and cricket. I know mobile is not a passion but to some extent it has become.
Snaptu is a Israel based mobile company which has a whole set of applications that can be downloaded to your mobile. The applications range from weather, facebook to movies. Now it has one more addition - Cricinfo application. Cricinfo application on mobile will provide cricket scores, cricket news, articles and anything else that has to do with cricket in a easy to navigate format. Cricket season is packed for the next 3-4 months. We got the IPL season 2 coming up, the T20 world cup and the champions league. Now, you have one more way to follow what’s going on. It is not clear on which mobiles this service service is available. But from the looks it will be available on high-end phones and definitely on iPhone. This is one of the few applications which Indian users can really use on a mobile. It would be interesting to see what kind of applications will be available for Indian mobile users for their smart phones from now on. Apple, Nokia and recently RIM of Blackberry fame has launched their own online stores. A 3rd party service like Snaptu which can offer a ala carte is more suited for India’s diverse mobile users. India already has 370 million mobile users and around 100 million already subscribe to mobile data services. Though Snaptu-Cricinfo will be available around the world, its biggest downloads and use might be in India. Check out the Snaptu-Cricinfo video below :
