Tata Teleservices has launched its Assisted Global Positioning System (A-GPS) yesterday. This services will allow users of its CDMA service to pin-point the locations, track consignments, find the nearest ATM’s among other things.
That is really exciting. You now don’t have to worry about anything but your mobile phone. But, my excitement has fizzed out when I looked at other details.
With so many constraints I will pass. The service is initially launched in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. This service might be useful for people who want an eye on their employees taking consignments. Especially for truck drivers who are driving with some expensive stuff. They can switch off the phone but a handy thing to have nevertheless. The A-GPS is powered by Qualcomm’s QPoint solution.
