Nothing ever has created so much buzz like Twitter is doing. Not even Google.

Google’s rise was almost in tandem with the rise of the Internet. And Google benefited from the rise of the Internet by serving web pages faster. On the contrary twitter is thriving on providing something useful over a matured backbone of the Internet and search and of course mobile.

I cannot remember anything like this happening in the civilized Internet world. There 8 was the Netscape IPO buzz and dotcom boom but twitter beats both of them hands down because it is thriving in a busted economy not a booming one. Which is a good indication that the company is in for a long haul.

The verdict is out. Twitter is the next Google. The search for next Google should stop immediately. Bring back the troops. We have a new thing to search. It is for the next Twitter.

Twitter is challenging the conventional wisdom of the search engines to move towards a real-time search. It changed the way Facebook operates by pulling it into providing vanity urls. It provided Dell much needed impetus in a sagging economy. That is 3 different companies which are dancing to the tunes of Twitter. Do we need more proof?

I did not even touch upon the Iran and China’s twitter dilemma.

And one last time, Twitter is the next Google and probably even better.

Who is the next twitter?

PS : If you don’t agree then you have to point me to a major newspaper or a website which do not talk about Twitter. Has Google ever seen this kind of popularity? May be during its IPO but that’s about it.

PPS : Funny thing is Twitter doesn’t generate any revenues. May be it doesn’t have to.
