HTC Magic an Android (mobile operating system from Google) based phone will be launched in India. It will cost 29, 900 rupees and Airtel will be selling the Magic’s.

Since everyone realized that locked phones won’t work in India, HTC magic will be an unlocked phone and will not be married to Airtel. Which simply means Airtel is a distribution channel for HTC Magic.

HTC has already shipped its 1 millionth unit of HTC Magic. Don’t worry all the million phones are not for India. It was released much earlier across the world and came to India only when everyone has taken it. The latest release from HTC is HTC Hero which will take a while (officially) to make its way to India.

HTC Magic is almost the same as myTouch which is running on T-Mobile network in the USA. It is also called as HTC Ion.

HTC Magic promises to sync all your Google things very nicely. After all that is only expected from Google. Those who live in and out of Google of which there are many will like this phone very much.

Other than the Google apps if you want any 3rd party software then you might find it a little difficult as Android app development is only catching up.

HTC Magic has to compete really hard with other big launches this summer. Nokia N97, iPhone 3G S and many other phones coming up.
