This article, which has been published in several newspapers, is a classic of the genre. The website mentioned appears to be down, but you can see some screenshots of it in this Japanese-language blog (I know, my mind is blown too), and the author appears to have a Wordpress blog. Hat tip to Korean Media Watch. Controversy is growing over a secret website where foreign men degraded Korean women as "sexual toys". According to the internet site "Korea ○○" (www.korea****.com) on the 22nd, on an average day its various forums see over 10 posts written in which the men write about their nighttime experiences with Korean women or about "a secret plan for sexual success". The forum has different sections including "field reports" and "guides and tips," and sexually degrade Korean women using lewd sexual slang. One post read, "Korean women act like they're conservative but actually they're not at all like that... don't believe the innocent front they put up." Most use very perverted words to talk about Korean women. One wrote, "They [Korean women] are easy, you meet them and after an hour or two together you move to a private spot." Another wrote, "Korean girls with princess disease like to test men by acting like what they see in dramas." The site, which is known to have its server in the United States, is operated totally behind closed doors, with an e-mail interview with members being only those who pass an e-mail interview with the owner, and most of the over 200 members are foreign men who either live in Korea or else once did. The site owner has created an e-book titled "Getting Intimate With Korean Women," which he sells for W20,000. The site members gathered in a famous club in Gangnam this year for an "offline" party they called "a competition to get intimate with Korean women." Paying W20,000 for admission to the competition, the members score points by getting the cellphone number of a woman in the club and moving with her to a private spot, and the one with the most points will keep all the money. The members plan to hold the competition in a famous Gangnam club at the end of this month. Relatedly, the Korea Communications Standards Commission, which is charged with regulating harmful internet content, (방송통신심의위원회) announced, "we will closely scrutinize websites which harm citizens of the Republic of Korea." But police say it is difficult to investigate such sites. A representative of the National Police agency's Cyber Terror Response Center (사이버테러대응센터)'s planning team said, "because the site is dedicated to private discussions among the members, with no intention to spread pornography, it is not possible to investigate, and it is the KCSC's decision whether to label it a harmful site." It's a good thing Korean men never, ever go to Gangnam clubs and get on Korean women.

hahaha...this is too much! I love what the KCSC states. Maybe they should state all citizens regardless of nationality but then they would have to shut down the Anti-English Spectrum site! Or better yet get the FCC to help protect US citizens from websites that harm their citizens and shut down Anti-English Spectrum. Too funny.

I don't know what everyone is worried about really. These articles and their scare tactics dont change the fact that many Korean girls are attracted to Non-Korean men because we are different and not bound by the restrictions of a confucian mental map in our thinking. We all agree guys who just go out to use girls are idiots regardless of whether hte girls are Korean or not. But lots of girls who go to Hongdae etc WANT casual encounters and I'm sure discuss them with friends in an explicit manner. It takes two to tango! I'm sure if Korean men had a pool of attractive Caucasian women who were interested in casual encounters with them they would not restrain themselves on the basis of some moral high ground, thats why Korea has so many Russian hostesses!
I like the cyber terrorism task force's response: We don't like the site but we don't care since it's not a bad site. We have bigger fish to fry.

It's funny... When I read about the meetings that took place in Gangnam, I got this mental image of a bunch of nerds/geeks/social-outcasts sitting around a table at a bar making silly bets. If you need to buy a book to learn how to "get intimate" with women of any country, then you are loser.

Well the world is truely becoming international. Korean men have sites about ranking and telling their exploits at whore houses. The foreign guys on how to pick up Korean chicks. So no matter what country or culture we come from we, men, are sleeze balls.

Sure, this is probably* a stupid article that shouldn't have been written, but if it didn't say "our women" I don't think it's right to ratchet up outrage further by mischaracterizing the words that were written. * I withhold judgement on the stupidity of the article, however likely I currently see it as, until I can see the actual website that is now AWOL. I do so because I recall such things as the case of Mark McDowell, who was being driven out of town on accusations he was a child molester, and the K-blog commentariat assumed he was being railroaded... until they found his blogs.
Nowadays, the vast, vast, vast majority of reporters in the US would not print up something like this, and if they did, their editors would nip it in the bud posthaste. But that doesn't mean stupidity in the media about interracial dating doesn't exist; rather, it is reader-driven. Like uproar over a Black man kissing a White woman on the cover of a St. Louis magazine. Or people — White and Black — getting upset over sexually suggestive interaction between White actress Nicole Sheridan and Black NFL football star Terrell Owens. Not just readers/viewers, but also coaches. And let's face it, wherever you're from, it's almost certainly a sure bet that you're no more than one generation from where opposition to interracial relationships — often accepted by and even fueled by the media — was commonplace. Heck, according to "The Autobiography of Malcolm X," being with a White woman got you longer jail time for other crimes.
Ah, so you see? We shouldn't be outraged because the Korea of today is like the Alabama of the 1960s.

It seems people are more outraged by the race thing than the fact that it really is more about exploitation of women. It seems people are reacting more to foreign vs korean.."our women" etc...Why are people focusing on that rather than the fact that both foreign men and korean men have sites that I'd say exploit women or at least are pretty degrading and tasteless.

lol because horny people and consensual sex are illegal in Korea. There are hundreds of websites on how to score in English and I get emails in my spam box every day trying to sell me this crap. The fact that newspapers are publishing this kind of thing shows how much they are hurting financially. An article like this does not take many resources to put together.
